I do have some rants to contribute, but as they are more spoiler-y, I put them at the end so you could skip them… I definitely do not regret picking this up and will try reading Night Film now – because of just how fluid her writing and storytelling is. The mixed reviews and opinions on Night Film made me question whether I would enjoy reading this or not.

This was the first book that I have read by Marisha Pessl and I was hesitant about picking it up. The atmosphere given through the constant rain, falling trees, and dreariness was prevalent throughout the book and the scenes that didn’t have those elements then felt all the more out of place for that lack on continuity. The tone and setting choices made by Pessl were perfect and as someone that isn’t accustomed to reading spookier texts this book was something that I handled very well and enjoyed reading. It was almost a letdown to find out how Beatrice had been involved and the motivation behind Martha’s choices and behavior. Thoughts: Leading up to the end of the book, I was really into where it was heading, but those last few chapter didn’t match up to that feeling that the rest of the book had given me.

Summary: Neverworld Wake tells the story of 5 friends as they navigate the Neverworld – a stasis between life a death – only accessible if it chooses you and if you are close to the brink of dying.
